The first burn sets the foundation for how your candle will perform over its lifetime. Allow the wax to melt evenly across the entire surface during the first burn—this may take 3–4 hours, depending on size.
If the first burn is too short, wax may build up along the sides of the vessel, causing the wick to appear smaller and the flame to burn unevenly. A small amount of wax left along the sides is normal and is designed to catch up during the final several burns. This helps regulate heat and prevents the glass vessel from becoming too hot at the very end of the candle’s life.
Our candles are intentionally crafted to maximize burn time, making proper care essential for the best experience. For optimal results, always trim the wick to ¼ inch before lighting. Proper wick length and an even melt pool help support a clean, steady flame, minimize soot, and encourage an even burn from beginning to end.
